A Journey from Awareness to Action
Growing up in the UAE with Canadian-Pakistani roots, my connection to Pakistan was strong yet distant. It wasn’t until an internship in Pakistan that I saw the stark realities of hunger and poverty firsthand. One conversation with Amina, a factory worker, changed everything—her dreams for her children were clouded by the harsh reality of daily food insecurity.
That moment sparked a realization: I couldn’t just look away. With a passion for chemistry and sustainability, I saw how science could be a powerful tool to fight food insecurity in Pakistan. During my internships at Unity Foods and Sunridge Foods, I worked on projects that enhanced nutrition and streamlined food production, reinforcing my belief that chemistry holds untapped potential in Pakistan’s food security landscape.
This led to the creation of EcoChem Solutions: Nourishing Pakistan—a science-driven initiative focused on sustainable, research-backed solutions to food insecurity. The road to Zero Hunger is challenging, but with innovation, collaboration, and action, change is possible.
