Our Story
Discover Our Journey So Far
EcoChem Solutions was born from a profound personal awakening. Growing up in the UAE, our founder Inaya Fawad felt a deep connection to her Pakistani heritage, but internships in Pakistan revealed the harsh realities of hunger and poverty. Witnessing families struggling for nutrition ignited a call to action, especially after meeting Amina, a factory worker whose hopes for her children were dimmed by malnutrition. Experiences at Unity Foods and Sunridge Foods highlighted chemistry’s potential to address these issues.
Launched in 2023, EcoChem Solutions blends intellectual depth with humanitarian purpose. Inaya’s work with the Taqatwar Pakistan initiative under Unity Foods combined data-driven research and community action, including distributing food rations in underserved areas while documenting hunger’s impacts. This inspired her reflective piece, “The Unseen Strength of Taqatwar Pakistan,” published in Pakistan Today, merging empathy, analysis, science, and storytelling to amplify marginalized voices.
Expanding our scope, Inaya spearheaded a large-scale Clean Water Project under EcoChem Solutions across six rural communities in Sindh. She independently designed and led the research, collecting and analyzing water samples from schools, neighborhoods, and industrial areas, revealing severe contamination at five sites. Presenting this data to corporations, she secured CSR sponsorships to install five reverse osmosis–based filtration systems, providing sustainable clean water for hundreds of families. Complementing this, she conducted hands-on workshops for over 100 students, teaching simple chemistry-based filtration using sand, pebbles, and charcoal to demonstrate particle separation and raise awareness.
In the lab, Inaya has pioneered advancements like enhancing Chakki Atta’s nutritional profile through biochemical analysis for affordable fortification, co-developing a nutrient-dense Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) formulation rich in proteins, vitamins, and fats for children with stunted growth due to maternal malnutrition, and exploring biofuels from agricultural waste for climate resilience and resource equity.
Our projects also include high-fiber flour development, soil health workshops, and youth science clubs, tackling soil degradation, pesticide overuse, nutrient deficiencies, economic disparities, and water contamination. Collaborating with NGOs, schools, and companies, we build on initiatives like food fortification and public-private partnerships. For her leadership and cross-disciplinary impact, Inaya was nominated as a Youth Ambassador for Zero Hunger in Pakistan, affirming her role as a promising changemaker.
